Abstract:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

The Science, Technology, and Society (STS) approach in science education is crucial for fostering a more critical and contextualized understanding of the role of science and technology in society. The aim of this study is to analyze the explicit STS approach in the official curricular materials for teaching Geology in the 10th grade of secondary education in East Timor. A documentary study and an exploratory analysis of the Geology textbook and its accompanying teacher’s guide, developed as part of the General Secondary Education Restructuring Project in East Timor, were conducted. A research tool with 2 dimensions and 14 pre-tested indicators was applied, followed by a subsequent analysis concerning the STS approach. The results show that all indicators, except one, were covered in the student textbook. The teacher\u2019s guide explicitly and implicitly presents the STS approach. It can be concluded that this study demonstrates that the STS framework is evident in the analyzed documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A abordagem Ci\u00eancia, Tecnologia e Sociedade (CTS) na educa\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica \u00e9 fundamental para promover uma compreens\u00e3o mais cr\u00edtica e contextualizada do papel da ci\u00eancia e da tecnologia na sociedade. O objetivo deste trabalho \u00e9 analisar a abordagem expl\u00edcita CTS  nos materiais curriculares oficiais para o ensino da Geologia no 10.\u00ba ano do ensino secund\u00e1rio de Timor-Leste. Foi desenvolvido um estudo documental do livro did\u00e1tico de Geologia e do respectivo guia do professor, elaborado no \u00e2mbito do projeto de Reestrutura\u00e7\u00e3o do Ensino Secund\u00e1rio Geral em Timor-Leste. Aplicou-se uma ferramenta de pesquisa com 2 dimens\u00f5es e 14 indicadores, previamente testada, e realizou-se uma an\u00e1lise subsequente em rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 abordagem CTS. Os resultados mostram que todos os indicadores, exceto um, foram contemplados no livro did\u00e1tico do aluno. O guia do professor apresenta expl\u00edcita e implicitamente a abordagem CTS. Pode-se concluir que este estudo demonstra que, nos documentos analisados, a raiz CTS \u00e9 evidente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
