Kruszynska.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Klaudia A. Kruszynska \u00e9 doutoranda na Universidade Aut\u00f3noma de Barcelona. O seu estudo explora o uso das Paisagens Lingu\u00edsticas como uma ferramenta para promover habilidades de pensamento cr\u00edtico e de ordem superior em alunos do ensino secund\u00e1rio, numa aula de l\u00edngua estrangeira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Resumo da apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

My research aims to expand on previously established foundations of Linguistic Landscape (LL) based projects in order to enhance ways in which this approach can be integrated into foreign language teaching to improve current teaching praxis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contextualizing students\u2019 learning so that they can then make connections to the complex world in which they live is not always an easy task. LL can provide an authentic and up-to date means to raise students\u00b4 awareness of their surroundings (Dagenais, et al. 2009) and give teachers a powerful tool to bring the \u00b4outside\u00b4 world into the classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my studies I consider how these innovative approaches can help students to further develop their higher order and creative thinking skills. Recognizing the importance of higher order thinking skills across all subjects, this research expands on the promotion of these skills to develop students’ metacognitive abilities. These skills have been increasingly recognized as a fundamental educational goal, serving social stability, economic growth, well-being, and the maintenance of democratic society (e.g. 2008 European Commission and 2010 Council of European Union documents).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, this study\u00b4s aim is to answer the following research questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • To what extent do LL-based projects promote and support higher-order and critical thinking skills among secondary school students?<\/li>
  • What are the students’ perceptions regarding their acquired knowledge and skills through the LL-based projects?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    By investigating these questions, this research contributes to understanding the impact of LL-based projects on students’ cognitive abilities and their perspectives on the learning experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
