\u201cWhen I was invited to write this post, I felt\nI had a good opportunity to share with you my experience as a doctoral\nsupervisor and how the professional development of supervisors is perceived and\nsupported in institutions worldwide. Is the educational context shaping the\nprofessional development of supervisors or is the professional development of\nsupervisors still a myth in some countries and institutions? How can\ninstitutions support supervisors who need to supervise at a distance and how\nready are we to supervise doctoral students who are in other parts of the world\nor who rarely come to the campus to conduct their research? It\u2019s not my\nintention to provide an answer for these questions but rather present few\narguments that are based on my own experience as a supervisor, in running\nworkshops\/courses for postgraduate supervisors and from the research conducted\nin the area.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
